The goals of Spanish 102 are various. The first is to develop basic communicative skills in Spanish as a second language. These include but are not limited to the following sample abilities:
• Talk about food, describe food or learn how to order it in a restaurant. • Describe how you feel physically and talk about health and medical conditions. • Talk about technology and electronic products. |
The second goal is to develop some general knowledge about culture in the Spanish-speaking world. Some examples are:
• Foods and meals in Hispanic countries. • Celebrations and traditions in Hispanic countries. Do not expect this course to be just about grammar and vocabulary learning. Although you will be learning grammar and vocabulary to achieve the above goals, they are not the only focal point of this course. You will also be tested on cultural and communicative aspects of the language, so studying and preparation cannot be limited to studying grammar and vocabulary. |
